Balconies in Valletta, Malta They say you either love Malta or hate it – I loved it ! The people were gracious and welcoming, the cities and towns fascinating, the buses amazing – I sound like an advert for the Malta Tourist Board. These wonderful balconies are just around the corner from the Shipwreck Church in Valletta and delightfully run right the way along the ‘snakes and ladders’ type streets. Giclee print 26cm x 39cm

Whitby Harbour I We used to go regularly to Whitby when our children were young and fossil hunting was the order of the day. But then the virtues of the town itself took over and we kept going for the views, the Cliffside walks and the food. I was delighted to have an exhibition in Pannett Park Museum and Gallery there, as it was an excuse to go and work and explore the beautiful North East Yorkshire coastline – and the quite different light over in the east of the country. Whitby Harbour II The explanation for the softer romantic take on this vista of Whitby Harbour, is because I had just eaten a splendid chocolate pudding in the Magpie Restaurant, and the effect of the internal atmosphere of artists is often overlooked when considering their choice of approach to their subject…. Valletta, Malta I think I probably eulogised enough about Malta when writing about one of the other Malta prints – suffice it to say, I had a wonderful time painting this, it took ages, and I got a commendation for it from the RA. Shambles, York. Our wedding anniversary is in January and to celebrate our twentieth we took ourselves off to York and had a brilliant time. So much to see and do. We all loved the Shambles with its little lanes and overhanging houses. For the sake of this picture thank goodness it was January because I think it gets pretty crowded in the summer. Giclee print

Gondola, Venice. In 1982 long before I started painting, Frank and I took our mums on an eventful coach trip across Europe ending in N. Italy. A day trip took us to Venice and we all fell in love.
