Cnicht. For 17 years we lived near the foot of this iconic mountain in Meirionnydd. Yr Wyddfa - Snowdonia National Park in North Wales is a spectacular landscape. Cnicht, the knight is often described as the Welsh Matterhorn, or mount Paramount because of its distinctive shape.

Llyn Ogwen and Foel Goch.  Ogwen is a favourite haunt of mine for painting in the Welsh mountains and must count as one of the most beautiful valleys anywhere. I enjoyed trying to capture the rays of the winter sun just catching the top of the mountain. Giclee print 28cm x 40cm

Traeth Lafan was a regular spot for us to take the dog for an evening walk along the coast of North Wales looking towards Ynys Mon - Anglesey. The huge stretches of wet sand reflect the sunset colours so well.I am particularly taken by the softer winter colours, the pinks and the mauves, although the spring and summer flaming orange sunsets are amazing! Forgotten cottage. I was doing the studies for a commissioned piece above Bethesda, one of the slate quarrying towns in North Wales, and kept walking past this little forgotten cottage. I used a fair old bit of artistic licence in this picture as the original is almost invisible under all the bracken stem and brambles . But what a beauty and what  stories could it tell us, I wonder, about all the lives lived there if only it could talk…………Giclee print 39 x 27 cm

Moonlight. Painted looking across the Menai Straits from Penmaenmawr on the North Wales coast towards Anglesey, Ynys Mon. This moon path over the Irish Sea was so bright at about 5am that it woke me up! It had to be painted.

Stormy Skies over Llyn Gwynant. Painted on the south side of Eryrie - Snowdon - near Beddgelert in North Wales.  The light changes so quickly over the mountains with the clouds scudding across - views like this can often be quite fleeting. I enjoy painting the effects of light in the landscape, such as this scene, and it gives me a sense of the enormity and power of the landscape.  Giclee print  28cm x 40cm

Sunset over the Straits.  When living and painting in Wales for many years my studio looked out at this view. The outlook across the Menai Straits towards Anglesey, Ynys Mon, from Penmaenmawr was a constant source of inspiration.

Sunset, LLanfairfechan  Beach. What a beautiful place to go for an evening dog-walk along the Welsh coast. One lady told me she bought a copy of this print as an anniversary present as ‘it is a couple embracing isn’t it?’ Unfortunately it is in fact an old wooden remnant of the pier, quietly mouldering away into the sea. But looking closely, I could see why she thought that and as it’s much more romantic, at home, we call this picture now –‘the embrace!’. Giclee print 40 x 28cm
